This test checks for the presence of Bordetella pertussis, or Whooping Cough, IgG antibodies.
Pertussis Titer
This test that the presence of Bordetella pertussis IgG antibodies.
Bordetella pertussis causes Pertussis, also known as the whooping cough. Pertussis is highly contagious and complications can lead to severe illnesses in infants, children and the elderly. The Pertussis Vaccine (part of the Tdap) protects against Pertussis by creating antibodies against the illness in the immune system.
The Pertussis Titer tests for IgG antibodies to Bordetella pertussis. Following successful vaccination, IgG antibodies can be demonstrated in all people except for infants.
